On September 17th, we had the opportunity to conduct another drifting buoy campaign as part of LAMARCA project. This time, we launched 8 buoys along a 6 km transect at the border between French and Spanish waters and very close to the site of the last campaign that we performed in June.
We took advantage of the start of the JUVENA campaign at AZTI, where we deployed two gliders to measure fish stock and biogeochemical conditions, to release buoys in pairs, with and without drogue. This will allow us to gather more observational data to compare the behavior of objects with and without drogue under different ocean current and wind conditions.
These data can be visualized on the e-begi platform and will be available soon for downloading in the tool we are developing for the project. This tool will contain a tailored data product for the integrated management of potentially any coastal area regarding marine litter dispersion and accumulation areas.
